Scheid, et al. v. Fremont, filed in the Northern District of California, was settled in 2009 as a collective action on behalf of the two named plaintiffs and the opt-in plaintiffs who alleged that defendant failed to pay them for all overtime hours worked as mortgage loan officers. The settlement came after the parent company, Fremont General Corporation, filed for bankruptcy and Fremont Savings and Loan shut down its mortgage lending business, sold its banking operations, and became Fremont Reorganizing Corporation.
