In Lawson v. Consumer Portfolio Services, GBDH represents non-exempt Marketing Representatives, Field Marketing Sales Representatives, Regional Sales Managers, and Field Sales Representatives (“Reps”) employed by Consumer Portfolio Services (CPS) in California. The case alleges that Reps were misclassified as exempt from the California overtime laws, and are owed unpaid overtime wages, as well as relief for other wage-related violations. The lawsuit was filed on September 24, 2018, in the Superior Court of the State of California for the County of Orange.
A $1.1 million class settlement has been given preliminary approval and notice will be sent out to the Reps informing them of their rights and options under the settlement.
The final approval hearing is scheduled for May 24, 2024 at 1:30 p.m., in Department CX 103 of the Superior Court of the County of Orange, located at 751 West Santa Ana Blvd., Santa Ana, CA 92701.
