November 2, 2021
On November 2, 2021, GBDH, along with co-counsel Civil Rights Education and Enforcement Center and Disability Law Center, won preliminary approval of a class action settlement that requires the City of Boston to bring its curb ramps into full compliance with federal disability access laws, which the Federal Court called, “a ‘game changer’ for the class (and, indeed, for all residents and visitors of the City).” Under the settlement, the City must install or upgrade an average of 1,630 curb ramps per year until a compliant curb ramp exists at every location in the City’s pedestrian right of way where required by law.
