AC Transit Board Agrees to Transition to All-District Election System in Response to GBDH Demand Letter

On July 26, 2023, the AC Transit Board of Directors voted to adopt Resolution No. 23-033, which resolves to transition Board elections to an all-ward based system, eliminating the two at-large Board seats.  The Board’s decision was in response to a demand letter GBDH sent in March 2023 on behalf of its clients, who are Asian American and Latine residents and voters within the AC Transit jurisdiction, under the California Voting Rights Act.

The Board will undergo a ward mapping process ahead of the November 2024 General Election.
