Otero v. Rent-A-Center (California), Case No. BC217038 was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of approximately 550 Assistant Managers, In/Out Managers, and Executive Assistants at Rent-A-Center stores in California who alleged that they were misclassified and therefore entitled to overtime compensation. In 2000, the case was settled for $3 million. A related case was later brought in Tallahassee, Florida under the Fair Labor Standards Act for these assistant managers in other states and settled for $2,675,000.
