Wal-Mart – Talking Prescription Containers

GBDH is pleased to announce that Walmart has started a pilot program to provide talking prescription containers to customers with visual impairments who get prescriptions from Walmart’s mail order pharmacy or select stores. Walmart’s pilot program is the result of Structured Negotiations in which GBDH and co-counsel Lainey Feingold represent the American Council of the Blind, the American Foundation for the Blind, and the California Council of the Blind. This pilot is the first step in a broader initiative that we have been engaged in with Walmart and other major retail pharmacy chains, including CVS/Caremark, Walgreens, Target, and Rite Aid, to provide talking prescription containers, Braille and Large Print label information, and Braille, Large Print, and electronic versions of patient information sheets that are included with prescription medications. We are also working on similar issues at Costco, Safeway, and Express Scripts/Medco.
