GBDH and Browne Labor Law filed a proposed class action lawsuit on March 16, 2015 on behalf of current and former cleaners who worked for Homejoy in California. GBDH and Browne Labor Law also filed a California Private Attorney General Act lawsuit on March 9, 2015 against Homejoy. Plaintiff Diana Ventura alleges that Homejoy misclassified its cleaners as independent contractors when they really are employees. Plaintiffs seek, on behalf of themselves and the putative class, unpaid overtime, reimbursement for business expenses, wages for all hours worked, premiums for missed meal and rest periods, and related compensation and penalties as a result of being misclassified.
